Abstract

|
|
Effect of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) pretreatment on the postharvest performance of cut Cymbidium flowers was investigated for commercial application. Above 15 nL/L 1-MCP remarkably retarded fresh weight decrease and ethylene production of the inflorescence as well as florets of cut Cymbidium. It was also demonstrated that 1-MCP inhibited premature senescence caused by emasculation frequently encountered during the transport.
